FIVA
Also: Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens, International Federation of Historic Vehicles
The Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens, the international umbrella body for historic vehicles.
FIVA stands for Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens. It is the international umbrella body for the historic vehicle world. Its members are national federations and clubs from many countries.
What FIVA does
- It works to preserve historic vehicles and to keep them legal to drive on public roads.
- It represents the community towards governments and authorities, for example on driving bans or low emission zones.
- It has defined what a historic vehicle is: at least 30 years old, preserved in a historically correct condition and not used as daily transport.
- It issues the FIVA Identity Card, a document that records a vehicle's history and condition.
FIVA and rallies
FIVA recognises events and keeps its own calendar. Some classic car rallies require a FIVA Identity Card to enter, or to enter a certain class. The entry form tells you whether that applies.
Not to be confused with
FIVA is not a motorsport body. Competitive rallies with speed classification fall under the FIA. Regularity rallies are often run under national clubs or federations instead. You can find rallies near you in the rally calendar.
