Classic car rally

Also: Classic rally, Historic rally

A rally for historic vehicles. Most of them are about regularity and navigation rather than speed.

A classic car rally is an event where historic vehicles drive a set route. It is almost always a regularity rally or a mix of regularity and navigation.

What to expect

The range is wide. Some are relaxed one-day drives with a few easy tests. Others run over several days with hundreds of kilometres, many tests and a demanding roadbook. Scenic roads, stops at points of interest and a shared dinner with prize giving are typical.

Who can enter

Most events accept cars from a certain year of manufacture. Each organiser sets that cut-off. Some only take pre-war cars, others welcome younger classics too. There are often classes by age and by permitted equipment, for example a class that only allows mechanical clocks.

Scoring

Crews are scored on their deviation at time controls and tests. Some events use a coefficient to balance out the age of the car.

You can find upcoming events in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and beyond in the rally calendar.
